MEN AND THINGS. J. F. Preston has just sold a hand engine to Babylon, N. Y. At a recent test it threw a stream 165 feet through a 3/4-inch nozzle. The firemen were very much pleased with it. Anderson & Jones, the well-known manufacturers of fire hats, uniforms, badges, etc., are now making a handsome fire hat for boys, which they sell at the low price of $2.50 each. One of these would be a most acceptable Christmas present for a juvenile who is enthused with the idea of being a fireman. There is scarcely a fire company in the country that has not some boys about who take delight in the ” mash eon,” and who are in training for fntift-e firemen.
