MEN AND THINGS. The fire department of Chicago has purchased six more Bangor extension ladders. The Silsby steamer recently sent to St. Charles Lake, La., was tested recently and gave entire satisfaction. The 445th engine built by the Ahrens Manufacturing Company of Cincinnati, O., was sold to Dayton, O., last week. The new truck for New Britain, Conn., built by Gleason & Bailey, has arrived and is described in our New Britain letter. Oneonta, N. Y., recently purchased two fire hose carts from the Gleason Hi Hailey Manufacturing Company, and Chief Henry Bull, in enclosing check for payment, speaks highly of the satisfaction that they give. The following is from The Pittston (Pa.)
