OTHER MUNICIPAL WORKS. The Texas legislature has appropriated $50,000 to build an asylum at Austin. —Three million bricks are wanted by W. A. Jordan & Co., P. O. Box 553, Birmingham, Ala. Chattanooga, Tenn., will vote April 21 on the question of issuing $500,000 in bonds for public improvements. —Chester B. Davis has prepared plans for a sewerage system at Autora, Ill., which will be submitted to the council at its next meeting. —The contract for seven elevators for the State, navy and war departments has been awarded to the Crane Elevator Company of Chicago for $17,190- — The contract for the hydraulic passenger elevator for the custom house at Mobile, Ala., has been awarded to the Ellithorpe Brake Company at $4,228.45. — It is decidedly probable that New York will have a municipal building.
