Please mention FIRE AND WATER in your correspondence. —An additional appropriation of $300,000 has been made for building the city hall at Richmond, Va. —It is reported that the construction of the sewerage system at Dubuque, Ia., will be recommenced shortly. —About 350,000 granite blocks will be used in paving the streets of Holyoke, Mass. Work will be begun shortly. —The Mayor of Philadelphia recommends the appropriation of $300,000 for repairing several streets in the centre of the city. —The Philadelphia Granite Company has received a contract for 225.000,000 Belgian blocks, to be used in paving the streets of Chester, Pa. —New Britain, Conn., has made the following appropriations: Street department, $3000 ; fire, $15,000; lamps and gas, $9000; cleaning sewers, $600. —Governor Hill of New York…
