OTHER MUNICIPAL WORKS The San Diegan of San Diego, Cal., says: “The sewer reservoir is a generating centre of fatal diseases, and should at once be proclaimed a public nuisance. It is a fraud in construction and purpose. It will be a curse to San Diego unless remedied. The city council of Lowell, Mass., is discussing the advisability of building a causeway from Cushing to Middlesex streets to avoid the grade crossing on Middlesex street. The expense is estimated at $100,000 to $200,000. Advices from Washington state that Representative Cheadle of Indiana has prepared a resolution asking for an investigation of the letling of the contract for the erection of the Federal building at Brooklyn, which was first given to Mr. Goebel of Chicago, and afterward to Mr. Gallagher of Brooklyn.
