WATER SUPPLY Work was begun last week on the water system at Bradford, Mass. “Citizen” writes to The Boston Herald that the celebrated ” Braintree (Mass.) water muddle” has involved the town in an expenditure of at least $75,000. Maynard’s (Mass.) water-works, to cost $80,000, have been put into construction. The Salmon Falls (N. H.) Manufacturing Company is building a large reservoir, which will supply all the water required. The water-works stand-pipe at Jeffersonville, Ky., has been finished. The boiler in the pump station at Wenzel street, between Jefferson and Green, Louisville, Ky., exploded the other day, scattering pieces around the room and raising considerable commotion. The engineer is said to be careless, and is blamed for the accident. It was rumored this week that the firm of Brown, Howard & Co., aqueduct contractors, had begun a suit against the city of New York to recover $1,400,000 alleged unpaid balances…
