FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS —At East Saginaw, Mich., early last Saturday morning, hose carl No. 1, while responding to an alarm, ran into a large wagon which had been left standing in the middle of the street, and was overturned upon the firemen who had been riding on it. Henry Jordan was probably fatally injured, Ben Farrington broke both legs and Thos. Traban, Robert Hudson and Foreman William Pondon were more or less injured. —Charles A. Rolfe, special agent at Chicago for the Gamewell Fire Alarm Company, last week secured the Ashland (Wis.) firm alarm contract. —Another penny wise and pound foolish Maine town, says The Boston Globe, has had its little insides burnt out because it was too shiftless or penurious to purchase fire apparatus.
