FIRE DEPARTMENT —Says an Atlanta paper: Friday night the electric light wire was crossed with the East Tennessee telegraph wire and burned out the intruments on the Georgia division between here and Rome in an incredibly short time. The instrument at the Kimball house was burned out as well as the one at the East Tennessee depot, the one at Braswell, the other side of Dallas was burned and the operating table was set afire. The last instrument burned was the one at Atlanta Junction, two miles from Rome. _At Vidalia, I.a., last week about one-third off the town was destroyed by tire and the rest might, had not the Natchez, fire department come to the rescue and stopped the destruction.
