The Virginia State Firemen’s Convention. (From Our Own Correspondent.) NORFOLK, VA., June 7.—The third annual convention of the Virginia State Firemen’s Association, which was held here on Wednesday and Thursday, June 5 and 6, passed over most successfully, indicating very clearly the interest felt in the association and its aims by the firemen of the State, and pointing toward a future career of prosperity and usefulness. There was a good attendance of delegates and of visiting firemen from different cities, and the proceedings were both instructive and entertaining. On Wednesday afternoon the convention met in the ball rooms of the Atlantic Hotel, and was called to order by the president, Chief Engineer Thomas Kevill. After a prayer by Rev. B. D. Tucker, Mayor Banks in a pleasant address welcomed the visitors to the city, and was answered by President Kevill, who was then presented by Walter A. Edwards, president of…
