Well Drilling Notes. —The artesian well, 106 feet deep, at the hotel at Leicester, Mass., was recently found to have 5 feet of sand in the bottom, necessitating the cutting off of the pump pipe in order to restore regular action. —The artesian well at Hanford, Neb., is down 1155 feet, and flows ninety gallons a minute. —The New Orleans City Council has passed an ordinance authorizing a contract being entered into with J. A. Wadsworth to drive an artesian well in the Sixth district, the flow to be 100,000 gallons of water per diem, and the city to be responsible for $1500 set aside for that purpose. —H. H. Tift has, it is reported, contracted for the sinking of an artesian well at Tifton, Ga., and will construct waterworks. —The artesian well at Mandan, Dak., is now down 190 feet and drilling is going on in a layer of…
