WATER SUPPLY —Arrangements are nearly completed for furnishing a water supply for the towns of Hamilton, Wenham and Essex, Mass., from driven wells in Willowdale. The cost will be about $150,000. —Hereafter the supply of water for the city of Passaic, N. J., will come from the reservoir at Garrett Mountain, Paterson. This is fed from springs and streams controlled by the Passaic Water Company. As the reservoir on Garrett Mountain is nearly 100 feet higher than the old reservoir on Paulison Hill, it became necessary, before connection could be made with the conduit, to make provision for the change in pressure. The connection with Vreeland’s pond is cut off and water will no longer be drawn from there for the city. —A press dispatch from Belleville, Ill., of October 14 says: “This city is greatly agitated to-night overa water famine.
