FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS —The steamer companies of the Troy (N. Y.) Fire Department will elect officers on January 5. —The St. Paul (Minn.) Fire Department responded to thirty-two alarms in November, of which nineteen were box alarms and thirteen still. The total loss by fire and water was $32,857, divided into $7492 on buildings and $25,365 on contents. The properties were covered by insurance to the amount of $60,400. —Truck 4 of the New York Fire Department, commanded by Captain P. H. Gurnley, has an aerial ladder 102 feet long. It reaches higher than the fire headquarters roof. —At a meeting last week of the committee having charge of the ball of the Brooklyn Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Judge Courtney, president of the association, offered a cash prize of $100 to the member who sells the largest number of tickets, and Mr. Murphy and Mr. Bray agreed to give a full…
