WATER SUPPLY —The court has decided that the city of Gilroy, Cal., has no right to issue the $50,000 of bonds voted for the construction of water-works. Under the State law the power of municipal bodies to issue bonds is limited to five per cent of the taxable property, and the amount proposed to be raised was in excess of that limit. —The material for the stand-pipe of the water supply system at Morristown, Tenn., was, at latest accounts, daily expected to arrive. Upon the erection of the stand-pipe the laying of mains will at once begin. —Residents on the “North Bench,” Salt Lake City, have petitioned the city council to have the water mains extended to their property. —An Elyria (Col.) item of December 3 says : “ The citizens are getting indignant over the fact that nothing has been done toward securing water for the town.
