WATER SUPPLY ITEMS. The water-works question continues to be discussed at Lawrence, Ala. There is talk of water-works at Sheridan, Ill. The Clarksville (S. C.) Water Company is putting in new pumping machinery at its water-works. Z. T. Taylor, is president; S. F. Shaw, vice-president; and W. M. Straus, secretary, of the Spring Water Supply Company, lately reported as incotporated at Parkersburg, W. Va., to construct a system of water-works. West Branch, Mich., is agitating the establishment of a water-works system. The city council of Tacoma, Wash., has instructed the city attorney to prepare an ordinance calling a special election to vote bonds for the purchase or construction of water-works by the city. A bill is before the Massachusetts legislature givingthe town of Melrose power to issue $125,000 in water bonds. G. II.
