The San Francisco Fire Department. The following is the basis for the San Francisco Fire Department appropriation decided upon by the committee having the matter in hand: The salaries have been increased $20,000, and for additional hose, hydrants and apparatus $29,958 has been provided in addition to the $30,000 provided by statute. In commenting upon the condition of the department, the committee in its report says: “The question in abeyance of the reorganization of the fire department has been relegated to the courts, this board having passed an order and appointed commissioners to that end, but the incumbents refused to recognize the appointees of this board, and thus the matter stands until a final decision of the courts.
