The Seneca Falls Fire Department. The fire department of Seneca Falls, N. Y., is officered by Horace N. Rumsey, chief engineer, whose portrait we present to our readers this week; W. B. Harper, first assistant, and M. E. Hanlin, second assistant, all of whom are known as experienced and thorough firemen. Chief Rumsey has been a member of the Seneca Falls department for thirty-three years, and for the past eleven years has been its chief officer. The department consists of two steamer companies, with paid call men, three hook and ladder companies, two chemical engine companies and one company of protectives, in all 150 men. There are also five hose carts and eighteen back chemical extinguishers. All of the companies are handsomely uniformed and own their own apparatus, with the exception of the steamers. Twenty-two men occupy bunks nightly in the different houses, so that all alarms are quickly responded…
