WELL DRILLING NOTES. A stock company is reported as having been organized at Danville, Ala., for the purpose of sinking oil and gas wells. The city of Hillsboro, Tex., has accepted a proposition of the McLeod Artesian Well Company of Keokuk, Ia., to sink an artesian well for a water supply. A Charleston (S. C.) note says: “City Engineer Barbot is at present engaged in laying out the block for the new artesian well. The block is bounded by Stewart, Hanover, Hill and Nassau streets, and is known as the Blake lands, and is 300 by 377 feet in extent. The well, which will be 2000 feet deep, is to be sunk on the Nassau street front, near the corner of Stewart street, and will be two feet from the pavement.
