WATER SUPPLY ITEMS. A Ventura meter has been shipped to the East Jersey Water Company. The Lowell (Mass.) water-works board is still struggling with the question of an improved supply. Last week C. P. Pierce had a hearing before that body with reference to sinking wells. The new officers of the Holmesburg (Pa.) Water-works are President, Joseph H. Brown; vice-president, Tustin Boileau; secretary and treasurer, William Sowerby; superintendent, Isaac Taylor. The Quincy (Ill.) council has notified the water company that the supply furnished to the city is impure, that under the terms of the contract the company is required to furnish a pure article and that it must fulfill the contract. Work on the water-works at Goffstown, N. H., is progressing well. At the next general election at Allegheny City, Pa., the citizens will vote upon the question of borrowing about $1,000,000.
