A Great California Siphon. (From Our Regular Correspondent.) The turning on of water through the great siphon at Olive yesterday marked an era of prosperity in the history of the upper Santa Ana Valley of California. Fully 2500 people from Orange, Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties were present. Orange county began housekeeping on July 17, 1889, and ever since it left the parental roof of Los Angeles it has been awaiting an opportunity to have the old folks come down and make the children a visit. With this in view the Santa Ana Valley Irrigation Company, the Olive Milling Company and Messrs. Frick Bros, extended an invitation to Mayor Hazard, the city council and other notables of Los Angeles and otlie counties, together with the people generally, to be their guests at Olive yesterday on the occasion of turning the first water through one of the largest siphons in…
