Comparison of Water Rates. The committee on water of the Worcester (Mass.) city council met recently, and after transacting a lot of routine business Water Registrar George E. Batchelder, in response to a request from the committee for information in relation to the water rates and water revenue of Worcester as compared with those of Fall River, Springfield, Lowell, Cambridge, Fitchburg and Taunton, made the following report : “ For the year 1891 we rendered to the city treasurer for collection 7160 bills for water at the minimum charge of $2 for each six months, amounting to $14,320. Had the same nuraber of bills been rendered in Fall River. Cambridge, Fitchburg, Taunton or Springfield at their minimum charge of $5 per six months, the amount received would he $35,800, or $21,480 more than Worcester received for the same service.
