The Richardson Ladder Lock. The Richardson ladder lock patented by C. N. Richardson of Providence, R. I., of which mention has already been made in FIRE AND WATER, has grown so rapidly in the estimation of fire chiefs, as shown by the places where it has been adopted, it is worthy of further notice. The lock has a perfect au omatic action and possesses the merit of absolute accurateness in catching, no matter in which way it is worked. It acts as promptly in raising as in lowering the ladder, and from its construction it is not likely to get out of order from any of the causes that frequently interfere with the rapid handling of fire apparatus. Chief Swenie has spoken in commendable terms of both the ladders and hooks manufactured by the Combination Ladder Company, of which Mr. Richardson is the head, and he is now using them…
