Half a Million Involved. The entire time of the New York Court of Appeals was taken up Tuesday with the case of John O’Brien and Heman Clark, plaintiffs and appellants, vs. the Mayor, Aldermen and Commonalty of New York city, defendants and respondents. This is the action growing out of claims for work done on the new Croton aqueduct. New York city, by the plaintiffs as contractors, and there was a large array of legal talent represented in the arguments, while massive models and sections representing aqueduct masonry were displayed and operated in the court room for the information of the judges. The action comes to the Court of Appeals on an appeal by plaintiffs from a judgment of the General Term of the Supreme Court affirming a judgment entered on a verdict direct at Circuit in the plaintiffs’ favor for the sum of $20,236.77.
