Pacific Coast Departments. According to recent reports received by The Pacific Underwriter the following is made public: HEPPNBR, ORE. Fire department is composed of fifty volunteers, one hook and ladder company, two hose companies with 1000 feet good rubber hose. The water is supplied from two reservoirs, with total capacity of 265,775 gallons distributed through eight, six and four inch mains, with average pressure from seventy-eight to ninety pounds; hydrants inspected weekly. SPOKANE, WASH. Fire department has forty-five volunteers ; three steamers, drawn by horses with drop harness ; three chemical engines ; two hook and ladder companies; four hose companies and 8000 feet good cotton hose. The water is supplied from pumping station to business part of city through sixteen inch mains, then distributed through 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 20 inch mains with average pressure of 110 to 140 pounds. Hydrants blown off and inspected regularly.…
