Pacific Coast and Canadian News. (From Our Regular Correspondent.) The Pacific Coast Association of Fire Chiefs will meet in San Francisco during the Midwinter fair. The executive committee of the association postponed the convention at the request of the committee of arrangements. The new dates will be furnished as soon as the executive committee complete arrangements. An attempt was made to burn a portion of the town of Martinez, Cal. Some miscreant placed a pile of rags and rubbish on the roof of a shed attached to a row of frame buildings used as tenements, saturated the rubbish and building with kerosene, set fire to the mass and made his escape. The blaze was seen by a passer-by, who gave the alarm, and it was quickly extinguished. No motive is known for the act except revenge or robbery.
