Protecting Pipes from Electrolysis.

Issue 16 and Volume 1893 14.

Protecting Pipes from Electrolysis. The recent discussion in the electrical papers of the question of protecting underground pipes from electrolysis brought out quite a number of remedies, some of which were of value. An English firm now points out that by coating the pipes with two coats of anti-sulphuric enamel a complete protection is assured. This material is an elastic composition, which has been used for this purpose with the greatest success, as it is not only a perfect insulator, but being unaffected by acids, earth salts and moisture, it is both more serviceable and more effective than the tarred hemp and japan usually brought into requisition. It can be easily applied and dries rapidly.
