The Exposition Medals and Awards. The design for the medal has been submitted to the Secretary of the Treasury by Aug. St. Gaudens. The medal will be of bronze, three and one-half inches in diameter. On the obverse is a relief figure of Columbus and on the reverse the figure representing Youth. Director Preston of the mint thinks it will take three months to finish the work. This will disappoint many firms, who want a copy of it to ornament calendars for 1894. John Boyd Thacher says the diplomas will be ready to issue in six months ; the medals at the same time. The wording of the judge will only be changed as required by the rules of grammar and punctuation and for brevity. The matter to be placed on each diploma is not to exceed 300 words.
