Pacific Coast and Canadian News. (From Our Regular Correspondent.) Chief Hunt of Seattle, Wash., reports eighteen fires and small losses during October. The Seattle (Wash.) firemen will hold their annual ball on Christmas night. The dry house of the Eagle brewery at San Jose, Cal., was gutted by fire on October 27 and 2000 sacks of barley, with two floors of malt, were destroyed Loss, $10,000. The Selkirk hotel, with the post-office and a large store, burned at Donald, B. C., on October 30. Loss, $10 000. The collier San Mateo lies in Esquimau harbor, B. C., in a badly shattered condition The cause of the trouble was an explosion of gas. Damage, $40 000. Fire in Horsey’s block, Bowmanville, Ont., Can., on the 7th inst , completely gutted Northway’s grocery, Sharling’s butcher shop and Tail’s photograph gallery. Mason & Dale’s hardware store was considerably damaged by smoke and water.…
