WELL DRILLING NOTES. A syndicate at Reading, Mass., is considering the feasibility of getting a purer supply of water for drinking purposes from driven wells, the pressure to be obtained by means of a windmill. Douglas county (S. D.) voted upon the proposition to issue $11,ooo in county warrants to put down four artesian wells at the heads of the dry creeks which cross Douglas county from north to south. Fire last week burned Bartlett & Mallett’s hardware store, also John A. Abraham’s building. The artesian well worked splendidly and saved the town. The artesian well on the marsh at Horse Neck beach, New Bedford, Mass., after having been bored to a depth of 300 feet, has been abandoned, and the company, consisting of Thomas B. Tripp. Benjamin Cummings and Captain Alden T. Potter, has removed the engine and apparatus to the White farm on the high ground before reaching…
