WATER SUPPLY ITEMS. At a special meeting of the Salem (Mass.) city council the report on the additional water supply was presented. The substance of it is that the land to be taken on Lougham meadow and other parts of the adjacent watershed covers 275 acres, and will cost about $27,000, and it will cost $40,000 to build the dam and put the water into Wenham lake. The Bangor (Me.) council has received several communications for furnishing the water pipe to finish the new water main. R. D. Wood & Co. offer to furnish 6000 feet of twentyinch pipe for $24.60 per ton, delivered free in Bangor, by rail or vessel, in the month of April—2240 pounds to the ton. A bid was also received from the Bessemer, Ala., concern that furnished the pipe this summer, but it was not complete. It will cost about $30,000 to finish the new…
