PUMPING ENGINES City Engineer E. H. Keating of Toronto, has presented his estimates for 1894, among which is an amount of $127,300 for new engines and connections ordered by the Council of 1893. The Grand Rapids, Mich., Board of Public Works has decided to recommend the purchase of a pump. City Engineer William Haskins of Hamilton, Ont., has sent a report to Mayor Stewart in response to a request for suggestions as to the improvement of the water-works so as to make them more effective for fire purposes, in which he recommends the construction of a new reservoir at a higher level and a new set of pumps capable of pumping under the increased head. ‘The water committee of the Orange, N.
