Fairmount Works Flooded. Our Philadelphia correspondent under date of May 22d, writes: At 7 o’clock in the morning 7 feet 6 inches of water was surging over the breast of Fairmount dam, and the maxi, mum volume of the day was reached at 6 o’clock P. M., when 8 feet 10 inches was recorded, while the banks on both sides were covered with several feet of water. Affairs below the dam were equally bad. The basin at the foot of the breast was filled up with the overflow from the upper part of the river, while the tide, the highest that has ever been seen at Fairmount, backed the water up to the dam to such a height that the fall of the volume over the breast was almost imperceptible. A boiling whirlpool, just below the dam, showed the amount of water and the great force with which it flowed…
