SEWERAGE Dodge and Devanny have taken a contract for laying about miles of sewer at Pittsfield, Mass., for $16,000. The following bids were opened by the Metropolitan sewerage commission for constructing sections 31 and 32, Charlestown, Mass.: section 31—Metropolitan Construction Co., Boston, $40,398.30; Lindsey & Cudmore, Somerville, Mass., $41,687.50; Jones & Meehan, Jamaica Plain, Mass., $42,321; National Construction Co., Boston, $47,987; Fallon & Cronin, Roxbury, Mass., $47,899.70; Dennis & O’Connell, Dorchester, Mass., $54,325.50. Section 32—Metropolitan Construction Co., Boston, $40,776.10; F’allon & Cronin, Roxbury, Mass., $46,712.50; National Construction Co., Boston, $4S,7S3.60; Jones & Meehan, Jamaica Plain, Mass., $51,570. Plainfield, N. J., is at last to have sewage. After a year’s work securing the necessary signatures of the required percentage of property owners, a petition was presented to the Common Council signed by the owners of three-fifths of the total amount of property in the city.
