In compliance with invitations issued by the Engineer’s Association of the South the following members and invited guests boarded the steamer Colbert at Decatur, on the morning of May r2th, to inspect the Mussel Shoals Canal as the guests of Uncle Sam: Dr. W. L. Dudley, Prof. Olin II. I.andreth, J.S. Walker and wife, Captain J no. Biddle, W. M. Leftwich, Jr., Thomas S. Bysor, B. F. Cheatham, George F. lilackie, W. N. McDonald, Jr., Hunter McDonald and wife, the Misses Leftwich and Miss Hicks, of Nashville; Charles O. Bradford and wife, Louisville, Ky.; I. O. Walker, Paris, Tenn.; W. II. Holey and wife, Atlanta, Ga.; G. D. Hicks, Tullahoma, Tenn., and R. C. McCalla, Tuscaloosa, Ala. A canopied barge pushed in front of the steamer, well filled lunch baskets and a perfect day, gave promises of pleasure sufficient to compensate for loss of sleep caused by…
