Manchester’s Water System. MANCHESTER, N. H., is one of the oldest cities in the State, having been incorporated as a city in 1846. It is a thoroughly progressive place and among its notable municipal possessions is its water works. Already owning a splendid system the commissioners last year concluded to add a new high service system and of the progress of this work Engineer George E. Evans writes as follows to the Board: In accordance with your request of May 12, I commenced on the 15th to examine a location for the intake pipe and pumping station at Lake Massabesic. Two places on land owned by the city had been favorably considered, one north and the other south of Slager brook, on the west shore of the lake.
