FIRE NEWS The Fire Commissioners of Seattle, Wash., have preferred charges against Chief Hunt, charging him with being naturalized under false representations, and, therefore, holding his position in violation of the city charter. The complaint was lodged with the Board of Alderman, where it was fully discussed. The Alderman came to the conclusion that inasmuch as they had no power to remove the chief if found guilty, that power alone being vested in the Mayor, that the Fire Commissioners examine the charges and report to the Mayor. An investigation will now be made. This charge was made against Chief Hunt when he was appointed, but no one in authority inquired into the truth or falsity of the statement. The superintendent of the Kindge industrial school at Cam bridge. Mass., has substituted lire drill for military drill among his scholars, and the innovation has attracted the attention of the Boston fire…
