FIRE NEWS A meeting of theatrical managers was held at the Hotel Metropole, New York, last week, to arrange a benefit performance for the families of Chief Bresnan, and Assistant Foreman Rooney, who were killed by the falling of a tank in a burning building, Dec. 29. Charles Burnham, of the Star Theatre presided. It was decided that two benefit performances should be given on the afternoon of Jan. 17, one at the Academy of Music, and one at the Grand Opera House. Each will begin at two o’clock and last till about five. The programmes are not arranged. Fire Commissioner Robbins will be treasurer for the benefits. He says that the members of the Fire Department can sell 10,000 tickets. The rule which forbids firemen to sell tickets will be suspended for this occasion.
