New England Water Works Association. THE adjourned quarterly meeting of this association was held at Young’s Hotel, Boston, Mass. The meeting was called to order at 10:30 o’clock, and at 1 o’clock lunch was served. At 2 o’clock the meeting was reconvened and Mr. Dexter Brackett of Boston, read a paper on “Water Supply Required for Steam Fire Engines,” which has already appeared in FIRE AND WATER. Mr. George F. Chace, of Taunton, Mass., then spokeon “Eternal Vigilance the Price of Good Water.” A summary of his article appears below. Mr. Chace, who is superintendent of the Taunton Water Works, reviewed his connection with that department, referring to the trouble experienced by him in regard to the water supply. Efforts had been made previously, he said, to ascertain the cause of the troubles that presented themselves and to remedy the deficiency. These, while partly successful, were not wholly so. In…
