PUMPING ENGINES The Lincoln Park Board, Chicago, Ill., met recently to consider the bids for the new pump to be erected in the Lincoln park pumping station. Only five were considered by the board, and of these the lowest figure was $15,993. It was decided to reject all bids and re advertise for new ones. Homestead, Pa., councils have appointed a committee which will arrange to have a new pump placed at the reservoir as soon as possible. There is hardly enough water left for fire protection, owing to the break down of the only pump at the station. It is probable that the sub-committee of the Chicago Council finance committee which has in charge the selection of a site for the new West Side pumping station had hod selected the site offeredt at the corner of Springgeld and Grand avenues, in the Fourteenth Ward.
