Salem’s Water Supply. To the Editor: Dear Sir:—I notice in an editorial in your issue of Feb. 2d that you speak of the difference of opinion in regard to the quality of the water used by Salem and Beverly, and further on, in the same paper, you call attention to the new supply in such a manner that you unintentionally give a stranger the idea that this is the first time either of the above cities have enjoyed a water supply. I thought, therefore, that a few remarks on the subject might not be out of place. Although of late years Salem has been outstrip ped in size by many of her sisters in the Commonwealth, at one time she was among the leading ones, and early in the century had a water system of no small proportions.
