WATER SUPPLY The convention of the American Water Works Association will be held in Atlanta, Ga., May 28th. It is expected that 300 delegates will attend. The only business of importance transacted at the meeting of the Philadelphia councils April 5th, was the reintroduction and passage by the second branch of the resolution granting private citizens the privilege of constructing experimental filter plants at Shawmont. The resolution was sent to the councils by Mayor Warwick, at the instance of the citizens’ committee that is agitating the question of pure water. It differed from the resolution adopted by the last select council and defeated in the lower branch, only in that it contains a clause empowering the director of public works to require, should he deem it ueeessary, a bond conditioned on the removal of the plant at the request of the councils.
