THE ATLANTA, GA., REPORT. Chief Joyner reports that the Atlanta department responded to 282 alarms during the year, resulting in a total damage of $242,101. The value of the property at risk was $1,910,770, insured for $1,107,700. The appropriation for expenses for the year were $109,182. The department consists of about ninety-five men, including officers, substitutes and drivers. The apparatus includes two trucks, one chemical, two hose companies and two hose wagon companies, two steamers and one large La France steamer in reserve. Every piece of apparatus is drawn by two horses, and each hose wagon carries 1,100 feet of hose. No old fashioned apparatus is tolerated, everything being new, containing all improvements and ready for the hardest service. There is about 10,500 feet of good, rubber lineal cotton hose and some 8,000 feet more in fair condition. Each company has a double quantity so as to be prepared to…
