OGDEN, UTAH. William Binfood, chief engineer of the Ogden, Utah, Fire Department has now in use one 130 gallon Champion chemical engine, on Grand Rapids Standard hose wagon, one Grand Rapids aerial truck, one Stillman village truck, one hand reel, one hand engine; and in reserve one La France rotary steamer, fourth class and one hose wagon. Seventy-eight alarms were turned in. The value of property involved was $3,355,745, insurance $731,340. Insurance paid $49,775, net loss $76,009. The alarms last year 78. The net loss on property not covered by insurance was more than last year. The department extinguished 37 fires with chemicals compared with 19 the previous year. The water supply is satisfactory, showing an average pressure of from 83 to 138 pounds. The department has 8,043 feet of good hose and some that is questionable.
