THE CINCINNATI, O., WATER WORKS. IMPROVEMENTS instituted the past year have placed the Cincinnati systern on a level with the best. The officials in charge have tried to keep pace with modem plans of construction and have endeavored to have as good appliances in all departments as can be secured. At the Front street station improvements of value were made. A new battery of four boilers to replace the four old low pressure boilers was put in, all equipped with Rooney stokers and mechanical handling of slack coal. Every furnace in the house has been equipped with improved grate bars, and furnaces, the object being prevention of smoke and ecomomy of labor and fuel. The reduction of consumption of fuel was 1,828 tons for the year.
