ATLANTA’S WATER REPORT. Water rates to consumers were reduced at the beginning of the year, but instead of an expected $20,000 deficit, there was an increase of $5,000. The system of filtration changes the red, muddy, river water to almost crystalline purity. The new machinery operates satisfactorily and at no time has it failed to respond to all demands made upon it. No complaints of scarcity have beeu heard during the year. There must be an addition to the mains and another to the filter system to meet the demands of increasing pop ulation. An additional machinist is needed in the meter department. Last year repairs were madeon 1,895 meters at a cost of $2,210.
