ALLY OF FIREBUGS. New York city was startled last week on learning that several arrests had been made in connection with the fires recently occurring on the west side. Samuel Milch, a public adjuster of fire losses, was already under $10,000 bail, charged with arson in the third degree. A confession obtained from Milch by the district-attorney’s office furnished nformation whereon warrants were issued for the arrest for George W. Holt, an insurance company adjuster, and Policeman Charles H. Lenz, until recently detailed at fire headquarters. The developments point to a systematic firebug conspiracy, most thoroughly organized, having wide ramifications, and said to be in existence over five years. Lenz is charged with betraying the secrets of the fire marshal’s office to the organized band of firebugs. He was on terms of intimacy with members of the gangalrcady proceeded against, who, it is asserted were compelled to give up money…
