THE COLUMBIA METER. This new meter has been placed on the market by the Union Water Meter company of Worcester, Mass. It is called the Columbia, and the manufacturers claim that it will hold its own as to accuracy and price with any meter at present offered to the water works people. The accompanying illustration gives a good idea of the formation of the Columbia, and from its simplicity and convenient size, there is no doubt that it will become a favorite in a short time. It is made of phosphor bronze metal, with a vulcanized rubber piston am! Tobin bronze intermediate gears. It has no iron about it except the bolts. The parts of the meter are so constructed as to be absolutely interchangeable, and if necessary at any time to change or renew the parts, it can be done without removing the meter from the line of pipe.…
