FLATBUSH, L. I. Chief William H. Swartwout’s is the last report that will be issued by the old fire department of Flatbusb, L. I. It shows that there are twenty-four members on the roll; that during the fiscal year there have been thirty-eight calls of fire, an increase of seventeen over the past year, and that the total loss has been $21,331. The greatest loss was that caused by the Twentieth street fire in February. It announces that the water supply is ample for some years to come without the aid of steam fire-engines, except in some portions of Windsor Terrace. All hose, trucks, alarm system,and other supplies are turned over to the city, free of debt, and the department goes out of existence with a dean record.
