PUMPING ENGINES At the last meeting of the Yonkers, N. Y., water board Superintendent Lockwood reported that during the last month the engines at the low-pumping station had run 571 hourse, pumping 109,000,000 gallons of water, and the engines at the high-service station had run 302 hours, pumping 6,250,000 gallons of water. The cost of the new pumping station for the Newburgh, N. Y., water works, will be $2,700. At Owego, N. Y., the new pump for the water works company has arrived and been placed in position at their station on George street. At present there is about one day’s supply in the large reservoir; should the old pump break, tbe village would suffer for water for a short time until the new pump could be started.
