PUMPING ENGINES The Edgemoor Iron Company has sedured the contract for the boiler for the new pumping station at Allegheny City, Pa. Their bid was the lowest, being $46,700. The next was the bid of Thomas Rees at $48,500. There were six bids in all, but the only other one that attracted any attention was that of Babcock & Wilcox Company at $65,000. The members of the committee seemed to think the Babcock & Wilcox boiler was the best, but the price was so much higher than me others mat they were afraid award the contract for that boiler. The Edgemoor Com piny received the contract by the narrowest of majorities.
