PACIFIC COAST AND CANADIAN NEWS. [From our Regular Correspondent.] SAN FRANCISCO, April 6, 1896. THE firemen of Alameda. Cal., presented Chief Krauth with a painting on his forty-fifth birthday. The picture was life-size, and represented the popular chief in full uniform.—Architect Charles R. Wilson, who is superintending the construction of the new Ocean View engine houses at San Francisco, says the building will be ready for occupancy by the end of the month. It is a two-story structure on the south line of Broad street, near St. Jose road. The lower floor is for the’fire engine,hose carriage, and horses, and the second floor will be used as sleeping quarters by the members of the new company. The company will be known as engine company No. 33. The residents of Ocean View are arranging to celebrate the completion of the fire house by a banquet.—Several serious fires occurred during March.
